INDIVIDUALS (Ultra Division) 1. Individuals competing in the Master's Division must be at least 40 years of age on race day. 2. Individuals leaving the course to grab food, drinks, rest, or use the rest room but must return to the course at the point from which they left. 3. There will be a special area off the course just before reaching the start/finish area. This area is specifically for individual runners to set up their "base camp" for the day. Your "support crew" can also stay in this area.

6 PERSON TEAMS 1. Teams in this division can compete with as few as 3 runners and as many as 6 runners. 2. Coed teams - at least 50% of the runners on the team must be female. 3. Master's teams - all members of the team must be at least 40 years of age by race day.

2 PERSON TEAMS 1. To complete in this division you must have 2 runners. 2. A runner in this division may elect to run 2 laps in a row, but then the other runner must complete a lap. If one runner begins a 3rd consecutive lap, then their partner is no longer considered an active runner and may not re-enter the race. 3. There are male, female, and co-ed divisions. A female team must consist of two female runners. A co-ed team must consist of one male and one female runner. Both runners on a masters team must be at least 40 years of age on race day.

WALKERS The athlete's back toe cannot leave the ground until the heel of the front foot has touched. The supporting leg must straighten from the point of contact with the ground and remain straightened until the body passes over it. You will not be eligible for Walker Awards if you are caught violating these rules.

RACE RULES 1. In the 6 person team division runners can only complete one lap at a time. The team must follow the same preset order (designated on race day) throughout the day. 2. Exchanges must be made within the designated exchange zone. 3. A runner may drop out at any time during the day. Once a runner has dropped out, they may not re-enter the race. The rest of the team must maintain the same team order the rest of the day. 4. If a runner is unable to complete a lap for any reason, their team has one of two choices on how to continue: a.) A substitute runner may finish the lap that the injured runner has begun. Any other member of the team can finish the lap, but the replacement runner must begin from the spot that the injured runner stopped. b.) The next runner in order may begin from the exchange zone. The uncompleted lap will not count. 5. Runners found deviating from the course will first be warned. If there is a second infraction a team will be disqualified. 6. Runners must wear their race number where it's visible and timing chip on the shoe (or ankle strap if provided) at all times during their lap. 7. With 30 minutes remaining in the race, runners may begin the half mile loop for the remainder of the race. Runners will not be allowed to go out on the 5K loop once there is less than 30 minutes left in the race. Team's runners must continue in the same order as held throughout the day. 8. Any lap not completed at the end of 12 hours will not be counted.

SAFETY & WEATHER 1. Race directors have the right to postpone, suspend, or stop the race if bad weather threatens the safety of the runners. (If the race is to be stopped early winners will be based on number of miles completed at the time the race is stopped.) 2. No littering, urinating, or defecating in the park. Restrooms and trash cans are available. Any team/individual caught breaking this rule may be disqualified. 3. Hawthorn Park is a county park and by Indiana Law there are to be no alcoholic beverages allowed inside the park. Any team/individual found with any alcoholic beverages will be disqualified. 4. Any team/individual raising a public nuisance or anyone jeopardizing the safety of the other runners may be disqualified.

QUESTIONS 1. If you have any questions or would like clarification on any rule please feel free to ask. For first timers there is a lot to take in so never be afraid to ask.
